Frank Sauder
started his door-to-door business in the 1930's, during the Depression
Era. Several mornings a week, in the early hours before dawn, Sauder
departed his Lancaster County farmhouse and headed for Philadelphia
with a small truckload of the freshest vegetables, poultry, and
eggs available from his Lancaster County farm neighbors.
Sauder's reputation for quality and fair prices grew, and so did
the number of his customers. Frank Sauder's early morning journeys
marked the beginning for the family of companies that now comprises
one of America's leading processors and marketers of fresh eggs.
The
wholesale egg business began to expand in 1947 when Frank
Sauder's son, Raymond, joined him in the family business.
In just a few years, door-to-door egg sales grew into a top-quality
egg wholesaling enterprise.
Today, Raymond's
son, Paul, is the third generation of Sauders to operate the
business. Paul has built upon the family traditions of integrity,
product excellence, and fairness to customers, producers, and
employees. With the help of a highly motivated work force and
a skilled management team, we have grown the company from a
single location in Lititz to its present size, with three marketing
arms and five processing plants. |
